Q1: Tom, you’ve been at the helm of Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers for more than 40 years. What initially drew you to this industry?
A1: I was always captivated by the idea of connecting people with their dream properties. The thrill of auctions and the satisfaction of helping someone find their perfect home or business location was a magnet that pulled me into this field.
Q2: Over four decades, you must have seen some significant changes in the real estate market. Can you share one that stands out?
A2: Absolutely. The advent of digital platforms has revolutionized the way we operate. It has made property listings, auctions, and transactions more accessible and transparent, which is a win-win for both us and our clients.
Q3: You specialize in various properties such as farms, residential, auctions, and commercial real estate. Is there one you feel particularly passionate about?
A3: Each area holds its unique charm, but if I had to pick one, I’d say horse farms. There’s something about helping families and businesses find the right farm land that feels incredibly satisfying.
Q4: Could you share a memorable experience or transaction from your career?
A4: Every transaction is memorable in its way, but one that stands out was when we successfully auctioned off a Country Club Golf Course. The sense of legacy and history attached to it made the experience truly special.
Q5: You’ve recently stepped down from the auctioneer stand at Fasig-Tipton to focus more on your core services. How do you plan to channel this increased focus towards Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers?
A5: Re-directing my energies from the auctioneer stand at Fasig-Tipton after 30 + years was a tough decision, but it allows me to dedicate more time and energy to our clients at Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers. I plan to use this opportunity to further refine our auction services, ensuring we continue to provide top-notch real estate solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs. This includes everything from leveraging new technologies to enhance our listings and transactions, to spending more time on personalized service for each client. It’s an exciting new chapter, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve.
Q6: What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in real estate today?
A6: Be patient, be persistent, and be passionate. Real estate is a challenging field, but the rewards are immense if you’re willing to put in the work.
Q7: Finally, what’s your vision for Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers for the next decade?
A7: Our vision is to continue adapting to the evolving real estate landscape while maintaining our commitment to personalized, high-quality service. We aim to leverage technology, including A.I. in the auction space to enhance our offerings and reach a wider client base. At the same time, we plan to stay true to our roots, focusing on the local community and maintaining the personal touch that sets us apart. I believe this balance of innovation and tradition will allow Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers to continue to thrive in the coming decade.
