There is an old saying that “paper will just lay there and let you write anything you want on it, whether or not it’s true”.
I have to say that I feel the same way about a lot of social media posts. The writer has no intention of being genuine, knowledgeable or even honest, they are just trying to get attention…any kind of attention.
Which brings me to a more personal subject. As a Real Estate professional for over 42 years, I get somewhat frustrated with agents calling themselves “farm experts” on social media and other advertising. Just because someone sold their Aunt Susan’s 14 acre “farm” does not make them a farm expert. So you ask, what is a “farm expert”? That’s a good question. Let’s start with someone who was raised on a farm, someone who has been involved in nearly every aspect of farming – from raising crops to raising livestock, including horses. Someone who knows the joys and frustrations of owning land and being a farmer. I must admit that sometimes I shudder when hearing some of the questions I get from a “farm expert”, like is that farm you have listed in Woodford County in PDR? Or look at all those beautiful yellow flowers (buttercup) in the fields and paddocks! I just have to smile when a “farm expert” agent gets a farm listing and doesn’t post a soil map, or any kind of aerial overview. In fact, many don’t know where to get a soil map, much less how to interpret it!
I could go on and on, of course at the risk of making some of my competition pretty upset. But here is the deal, when you’re thinking of selling your farm or of buying one, do you want a real expert? One that has been around for a while and has seen and solved nearly every obstacle one can encounter in this business? If your answer is yes, call the real experts at Biederman Real Estate, we get it done – the right way, the first time.
